21k12 (twentyone-k-twelve) is the term meant to capture succinctly twentyfirst kindergarten-12th grade education and all that it entails; it is also meant to represent this blogger’s view about best practices in contemporary schooling.    It is also a brand of sorts for experienced educator Jonathan Martin; this blog is his and his alone, and it does not represent the official views of, and does not speak on behalf of, St. Gregory College Prep.

What is 21st century education anyway?

What are the key 21st century skills necessary for our students, and ourselves?  (the link leads to you a list from others; Jonathan’s own list is coming soon).

What are the hallmarks of 21st century classroom?

21k12 is the result of reading, training, and research conducted by Jonathan Martin in the years 2004-2009, and in particular, research conducted in what he called “The Good High School Project,” for which he visited 21 high schools in Fall 2008, and, at each one, shadowing a student for the course of entire day and live-blogging throughout the visit.    For the background of the project, click on any one of the following (coming soon):

Policy on Posting Comments:   This Blog welcomes posts from all readers,  including disagreeing and critical posts, with the following caveats and restrictions:

No anonymous posts will be published; it is the belief of this blogger that on-line communication is more responsible and civil when each one of us takes full responsibility for our words.

Comments must be on topic and speak to education issues related to this blog; they should be about, and only about,  celebrating and/or reflecting upon 21st century K-12 education, in the world at large or at St. Gregory.   Persons may be criticized for their ideas or expressions of ideas about education, but not for any other reason.
